Internships

Green Gate, and its educational nonprofit organization New Farm Institute, offer several Internships opportunities each semester. Interns are an integral part of our programming. Ideal candidates are mature, good-humored and flexible. You do not have to have farming or gardening experience, just be a person who takes the initiative to jump in as needed. All interns help design their jobs/goals and report directly to the farm co-founders.

Interns are compensated with food and flowers, glowing references, and are considered for employment as positions become available.

We’re currently seeking
interns to help with:
- Web Development
- Marketing and Special Events
- Development
- Documentary Film Reporter
- Food Justice Advocate
- Social Media and Farm Reporter
- Farm-Based Education

We expect you to abide by Covid stipulations -- wear a mask/gloves/maintain distance/wash hands/etc. -- when working on the farm. While some tasks can be done remotely, you should plan on being at the city farm (8310 Canoga Ave., Austin 78724) most of the time.

Community Organizers

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Community Organizer! Community Organizers (CO) play a critical role because we depend upon you to extend the reach of our farm.

COs receive free food each week in exchange for organizing a group of 10 or more members who receive weekly shares of vegetables through our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program. This entails:

  • Establishing a site where members can pick up their vegetables (e.g., your porch, office, church or other location); promoting the farm's CSA program; and ensuring your group is ready to participate from the start of the season.
  • Serve as point person so all shares are distributed on the day they are delivered to your site from the farm.
  • Maintain a sign-in sheet, provided by Green Gate Farms, where members check off their names when they pick up their shares.
  • Notify us immediately if there are any problems.
  • Some organizers organize potlucks and supper clubs for their members, but that’s not required. However, we encourage you to have fun and make new friends.
