Notes From The Field
with Farmer Jamie
It’s week 4 of our 20 week Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Spring season, and brand new rounds of our favorite greens are ready for harvest this week – Spinach, Kale, and Swiss Chard. We have more Napa cabbage coming on this week, as well as Kohlrabi.
The most fantastic news for this week, in my humble opinion, is that Egg Shares are back! You can add certified organic, pastured Egg Shares to your existing membership by logging into your account. Your eggs will be packed with your vegetable shares. Eggs are $6/dozen, and can also be purchased on market days at the farm, while supplies last.
In the fields, we’re planting summer and winter squashes, cucumbers, eggplant, sweet peppers, melons, and basil. It’s already time to start trellising the tomato plants, and the weeding has begun in full force. We’ve got a terrific crew of volunteers and Workshares this season, but we could use a few more hands as spring ramps up.
We currently have Volunteer/Workshare openings for Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8:30-12:30, as well as shifts at our River Farm location on Mondays and Saturdays. If you’re interested a decent workout and a little sunshine, in exchange for certified organic produce, please get in touch with us.
As always, thank you all for your support.
