AeroMotor Heading  New Winds

By the time you read this I will be gone. The only sign of my existence at Green Gate Farms being the new farm based education curriculum, administrative manual,  the memories of the children who visited this place, and whats left of the fattened guinea hogs born in Spring.

Often times, amongst the backdrop of the long  morning sun, I'd feed the animals, mesmerized by the melodic revolutions of the old AeroMotor that once pumped water from the older well--- Squeeeeeeak . . . squeeeak . . . squeeeeeeeeeeeeak . . . I don't know what it is I find so motivational about that AeroMotor. Maybe it's my romanticization of green energy, or a fondness for regenerative agriculture, or maybe it's just the steady, unwavering call to action: to do something about  this rasping, rusty situation.

I leave you with ways you can get involved, and I implore you to do so! Please spread the word and come visit us down by the river!

Spring Break Farm Camp -- Your children get to be farmers and explorers during our week-long Spring Break Farm Camp, March 18th-22nd. Located just a short drive from Austin, our rustic 35-acre certified organic farm will be where campers fish along the Colorado River, care for livestock (including Spot, our 800+ pound pig), build forts and structures, prepare healthy farm snacks, and learn more about the natural world.

Enjoy a Field Trip or Service Learning: Groups of all ages are encouraged to visit and engage with the farm. In 2019, we will be creating new spaces for gardening, learning, relaxing, including a new Children's Garden. Teaching visitors about how climate change is affecting what we grow is also why we will have demonstrations sites featuring: watersheds/water catchment systems, soil conservation, native plants, pastured livestock, alley cropping, food forests, composting, silvopasture, forest farming, permaculture and more!
