Farm Update
This time of year, it’s as though the hinge speaks to the board that falls off the post that encourages the mower to spin it’s last. And as websites crashed indoors, animals did their share outdoors.

Our new pony (and plow), White Socks, in her constant quest for fresh grass just beyond her pen, has made the fence sag. And Guinea Hog Jelly Bean and his girlfriends Luna and Licorice are finally rousing from their summer slumber to browse the fields (and trample the fence, knock over bowls).  Fortunately, the sight of little Miss Alpha and sister Omega trotting up for a pat and a scratch are usually enough to distract us from the bricklaying and repairs.

One way you can help the farm (if you’d rather not do repairs) is to tell friends about our CSA and farm stand. Something as simple as posting information to
newsletters/blogs, helps the farm tremendously (see below for sample
copy). As a small family farm with no paid marketing staff, we depend
upon you to share the love. We are working on improving our website and hope to post flyers there soon. In the meantime, email us at greengatefarms@gmail if you
would like to post some of our fliers.  Thanks!

Fall Organic Plant Sale This Saturday
Saturday, September 18, 10:00-12:00
Fall is the perfect time to have a garden in Central Texas.  The bugs are worn out, the weeds grow slower and the weather just gets better and better. To ensure you get the highest quality plants, don’t miss our certified organic plant sale at our farm stand. Kick off the season with hard-to-find, flavorful varieties of vegetables, herbs and flowers, including:  Toscano kale, rainbow chard, Hakurei turnips, chiogga beets, zephyr squash, packman broccoli, veronica cauliflower, dimaggio onions, hollyhock, zinnia, gomphrena, and sunflower.

Free farm tour, learn about our CSA!

Come see how Green Gate Farms selects and grows its certified organic vegetables, flowers, herbs and animals during an in-depth tour of our historic five-acre farm.  You’ll meet rare breeds of sheep, goats, pigs, and chickens; learn about composting, explore the historic hayloft and the importance of sustainable systems. We’ll also explain how our Community Supported Agriculture program works. Memberships typically fill before the season so don’t wait to join!

CSA begins Tuesday, join now with new Paypal option
CSA membership is the fuel that keeps our farm
running! Don’t wait to join. Next Tuesday kicks-off our 14-week Fall season, which promises to be bountiful.  I was going to say beautiful, too, but that would require all the broken things around the farm get fixed…quickly.
