Summer has started here at Green Gate Farms! Come take a hand in our first harvests of tomatoes and potatoes of the season. Fun for all ages! Feel free to stay and picnic by the Colorado River after the works done.
What: A Crop Mob gives folks a chance to join in the harvest on sustainable area farms, like the fall olive harvest we arranged at nearby CaraCara farm. This means you get to visit a farm and lend a hand when it’s most needed. Every one leaves with food! No experience necessary. Children 10 and older welcome; parents assume all responsibility for the supervision and safety of their children. Please leave pets at home.
When: Tomorrow — Thursday May 23, 8:00am – on; Friday, May 24 at 8:00 am – on.
Where: Meet at Green Gate Farms, 8310 Canoga Ave., Austin 78724 to caravan to the River Farm. Volunteers are welcome to work all day; however, some vans will return to Green Gate Farms by noon. If you live near Bastrop, you can meet us at the River Farm at 9. See www.greengatefarms.net for directions.
How: Feel free to bring a pitchfork or shovel to help with digging potatoes. Otherwise, just bring your own ice water, sunscreen, hat and/or lightweight long pants and long sleeves, snack/food. Covered toes required.
RSVP: Email for info firstname.lastname@example.org or call 512-484-2746.
